About

Enlightened: A Gojo Satoru Zine is a SFW, non-profit, Jujutsu Kaisen project highlighting the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in Tokyo, Gojo Satoru! Our aim is to explore Gojo’s character and chronicle his life from his childhood, life as a student, and at present as a mentor at Jujutsu Tech.

Application Guidelines

all

  • All applicants will be judged by their submitted portfolios alone. Social media accounts will not count as a portfolio.

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of the application.

  • Portfolios may contain both SFW and NSFW content, but only SFW content will be accepted into the zine. Please tag your NSFW pieces accordingly and give CW for your samples if needed.

  • The portfolio must be easily accessible (Ex. Google drive folder, Dropbox, etc.)

  • Please make sure link sharing is turned ON for all portfolio links. This can be checked easily by opening your link into an incognito window.

page artists

  • 5-10 samples of completed page illustrations that best represent the style you plan on using for the zine. At least 2 samples must have a fully-rendered background.

  • Portfolios may be digital, traditional, or a mixture of both.

  • All samples must be completed artwork. We will not be considering drafts or redraws as a part of the portfolio.

  • A Jujustu Kaisen sample is not required but highly recommended.

  • We will evaluate style, composition, anatomy, use of colors and lighting, and background.

merch artists

  • 5-10 samples of completed merch or merch designs. This can be either a flat image or a product picture. If using a flat image, please specify which type of merch it is (sticker, charm, standee, etc.)

  • All samples must be completed artwork. We will not be considering drafts or redraws as a part of the portfolio.

  • A Jujustu Kaisen sample is not required but highly recommended.

  • We will evaluate style, composition, use of colors and lighting, background (if applicable).

writers

  • 3 samples of your written work that best represent your style and writing ability.

  • Each sample must be 1,000 words minimum and 2,500 words maximum.

  • At least one of the samples must be a one-shot/completed piece. Excerpts from larger works are acceptable for the two other samples.

  • Please have a header available at the top of each sample with the word count and any necessary content warning(s).

  • At least one Jujutsu Kaisen sample is required in order to ensure that the writer has a solid understanding of the world and characters.

  • Content warnings must be clearly labeled at the beginning of each writing sample.

  • We will evaluate grammar, spelling, punctuation, pacing, and good characterization.

FAQ

Q. Will there be any spoilers in this zine?
A. Yes, there will very likely be manga spoilers up until the most recent arc.
Q. Will minors be allowed to apply for the zine?
A. Yes, as long as they are 16+ at the time of the application!
Q. Where will the zine be shipping from?
A. We will be shipping from the US.
Q. Will the zine be available in print or will it be digital/PDF only?
A. The zine will be available in both print and PDF format!
Q. Will you be inviting guests?
A. Yes, we are thinking about inviting a few!
Q. How will contributors be compensated?
A. Contributors will be compensated with a PDF copy of the zine at the very least. If the zine breaks even, we will strive to provide all contributors with free shipping and merch bundles if funds allow. Any leftover earnings will be donated to a vision-related charity!
Q. What kind of contributors are you looking for and how will they be selected?
A. We will be opening applications for page artists, merch artists, and fiction writers. We will share more details regarding contributor guidelines and evaluation criteria closer to the date of contributor applications.
Q. How many contributors will be accepted?
A. We’re currently planning on having 25-30 artists, 6-8 writers, and 5-6 merch artists. Please note that these are tentative estimates and are subject to change.
Q. Can I apply for more than one position? 
A. Yes! Please be aware that you may only be selected for one position.
Q. Is traditional artwork accepted?
A. Yes! Traditional artwork will be accepted as long as you are able to scan your artwork in high res/300 DPI.
Q. Will contributors be picked based on follower count?
A. Not at all. We will be selecting contributors solely based on their work. We encourage all creators, big or small, to apply!
Q. Will you be sending out rejection emails?
A. Absolutely! We believe everyone is entitled to one.
Q. Are ships allowed?
A. No, this zine will not include any shipping. To keep in line with our theme, we’d like to keep the focus on Gojo himself. You may feature other characters alongside Gojo, so long as he remains the focus of the piece.
